Being asked to spend a significant amount of time at home over the last year and a half has forced me to rethink how I use the space within my home. I know a lot of you are feeling the same way.
For so many of us, the kitchen, bedrooms, and dining room have morphed into multi-functional rooms. They serve as both traditional family spaces and makeshift home offices. Whether or not you’re heading back to work or continuing to work from home, it’s time to carve out some space for a games room to kick back and have fun.
re-imagine square footage
Even a small home can offer up space for a games room. Start by thinking about the rooms in your home that don’t get as much traction.
A spare bedroom would be the perfect setting for a games room. A studio or one bedroom condo can also be transformed to do double duty with a little thought and imagination. Consider these smart additions.
Trade in your bed. Switch up a regular twin, double, queen, or king bed for a sofa bed. Pull it out when you have company staying over. Fold it up when you want to use the room for games, movie night, or to hang out and watch the football game.
Install a tv. Go for a large screen television – yes, even in a small room. A big screen and surround sound will give you an amazing, immersive experience.

Make it easy for a crowd of people to sit together and watch the game or a movie.
Raise the bar. Choose one area of the basement that has clear sight lines to the television sets and make that the bar area.
